PUBLIC PROGRAMS

 

When you take science off the screen and put it on a stage, something like up-close magic happens. As a live science event producer and programmer, I bring scientists, artists, and curious audiences into the same room to explore big, existential ideas—mixing conversations and different perspectives with multimedia.

At Pioneer Works, an artist and scientist-led cultural center in Brooklyn, I select public program themes alongside Director of Sciences Janna Levin, hunt down and book leading researchers, script the narrative flow, and collaborate with event hosts on questions. To turn a standard panel into an immersive experience, I edit custom video reels, produce visual backdrops, and design hands-on activations—from live quantum mechanics demonstrations and tree-ring climate labs to actual heart dissections in front of a live audience.

At the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI), I created and produced two live storytelling variety shows (Creature Feature and First Contact) that bridged Hollywood cinema and hard science, pairing scientists, filmmakers, and writers on stage to talk about the real-world biology and astrophysics behind iconic monster and alien movies. For each event, I collaborated with the speakers to create custom visuals for their talks. Because I’m a director, editor, animator, and designer, my public programs feel like watching a movie instead of a PowerPoint presentation.

  • Science + Fiction: Kim Stanley Robinson (Pioneer Works) — Deep time, climate survival, and utopian logistics with sci-fi legend Kim Stanley Robinson.

  • Creature Feature (MoMI) — A live variety show about the biology, paleontology, and special effects behind Jurassic Park, Alien, Jaws, and cinema's most under-appreciated monster movie, Slugs.

  • First Contact (MoMI) — The science, linguistics, and creative licenses behind alien encounters from Arrival to Contact, plus a live-decoding of Carl Sagan’s Golden Record.
